Lima Games – Boxing & Beach Volleyball
After the traffic cleared from the marathon on Saturday, we went to a boxing event. Our tickets only cost 30 Soles each. That’s less than $10 a piece! We took Uber to the Miguel Grau Coliseo ( only 21 Soles) and really enjoyed the boxing matches. Our cell phones weren’t working from the Coliseo when it was time to go back to the hotel so we took a taxi. The taxi was so old and decrepit (and so was the driver!) we thought we might have to get out and push a few times. But we made it home.
Yesterday morning we went to some of the beach Volleyball games. They were really fun to watch. Since it’s winter here, the weather is overcast pretty much every day, and it only gets to about 60-65 degrees F. But the beach is still beautiful! We watched several games. This one is the US men against the Dominican Republic. One of our guys had the craziest serve! I haven’t watched beach volleyball much, but I’ve never seen a serve like this one.
After the volleyball games, we went back to the hotel. We were using some points that were about to expire and got lucky enough to be upgraded to a room that included access to the club level. We had made friends with one of the sweet servers there and she surprised us with a little cooking class and showed us how to make ceviche. Here’s a picture of Fabiola and me. What a sweetheart!!!
Today we took a bus from Lima to Huaraz. Huaraz is in the mountains and is so beautiful! I’ll write more about that tomorrow 😁.
